September 1, 2010 Meeting

 

Ruth McGinley, Meeting Facilitator, welcomed all attendees (31) and Introductions were made in our effort to build relationships & widen our circle of friendships among members of our parish.

Father Jim blessed the renovated Aquinas Hall & the Crosses which will be placed on the pillars so one will be seen as an individual enters from either doorway. Ruth gave some insights into the story of each pictorial cross;

Parish member Maryellen Pung, an accomplished pianist, delighted the group with music from the Romanic Era. Thank You, Maryellen for a beautiful program!!!

The Aquinas Hall Renovation Team (Carol Hillman, Jane Hoffman, Reni Lynch & Ruth McGinley) shared highlights & answered questions related to the project, the donation program & rental issues.

Carol Hillman reported a treasury balance of $1638.32.

A motion was made and unanimously approved to support Pat Branigan in providing Halloween treats to children at Winnebago. ($50.00)

Our goal is to advance the Mission of MBS by supporting the work of the Core Committees and other groups. The following reports were given:

  • Mary Gibbons from Human Concerns thanked all for supporting the Back to School Fair, encourages support of the Fair Trade Program, and explained a new Care Ministry Program to be implemented.
  • Rose Behlman announced that Time & Talent will be having their first meeting on September 2nd.
  • Teri Doughty from Faith Formation discussed the many programs being offered. She stated that help is needed for the Cana Café project (greeting & serving). Anyone interested in assisting should contact Lisa Dorschner (321-3623). A trip to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe is scheduled for October 2nd. This event & all other offerings can be found in the Church Bulletin.

  • Parish Life activities were reported by Anna LeRoy. Movie Nite is scheduled for September 18th. Sunday Hospitality is starting again this fall. The Women's Group will host the October 10 event after the 10:45 Mass. A Sign-Up sheet was passed around.

The Senior Group is scheduled to learn about navigating through Roundabouts & is also planning a trip to Holy Hill.

A discussion was held & decision made to hold an Aquinas Hall Open House on Sunday, September 26 from 8:30 to 1:00. Watch for details & what you can do to help hostess and/or prepare goodies.

A Sign-Up Sheet was circulated to obtain volunteers to bring Dessert & Beverages to future meeting. Volunteers for October 6 are Joan Reiter/Dot Muza (Dessert) & JoAnn Feldner (Beverages). Refreshments for this meeting were provided by Leadership Team Members (Carol Hillman, Ruth McGinley & Reni Lynch).

The October 6 meeting features Dr. Karen Greminger who will help us sort through the Myths & Truths of Women's Cancer Care. Anna LeRoy will be the Meeting Facilitator for the evening.

Our meeting closed with a Prayer for Friends.
