Our hope is that going through this Sacrament and the preparation process will prepare our teens to be blessed by the sacramental life that is all around them.  Good decision making abilities, the wisdom to discern what God wants for you, the strength to witness to their faith - these are all gifts they will graced with through the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Our preparation process is designed to help the teens accept, appreciate and make the best use they can out of the many gifts that come from this Sacrament.

Confirmation Registration

Our Confirmation program is run through our High School Faith Formation office.  To register for Confirmation, please fill out the enclosed 2009/2010 Religious Education Form and indicate that you are a Junior or Senior.  If you have already turned in this form, you have been registered for Confirmation.  The registration fee is $60; forms and money can be returned to either Most Blessed Sacrament or St. Jude the Apostle parish offices.

Registration for Confirmation closes Friday, November 20.

Confirmation Eligibility

You are eligible for Confirmation if you have entered your Junior year of high school or higher and have either attended at least one full year at a Catholic High School OR attended at least 15 of our CYO Faith Nights during the 2008/2009 school year.

Confirmation Requirements

• Send in a copy of the candidate's baptismal certificate by January 15 
  (if baptized at a non-Catholic church, St. Raphael Church, or other churches outside of Oshkosh)
• Attend all Confirmation classes and attend Mass weekly either Saturday night or Sunday
• Fully participate in class sessions and complete assigned homework
• Attend the confirmation retreat on March 20 & 21
• Have a desire to be fully initiated into the Catholic faith
• Choose a sponsor who is a Confirmed, practicing Catholic (not a parent) before December 13
• Have regular meetings and work through Confirmation booklet with sponsor
• Complete a candidate interview during the interview period February 3-March 24 with assigned interviewer
• Choose a confirmation name by January 15
• Write a letter to the Bishop by March 18

Confirmation Meetings

There will be an informational meeting for all parents and candidates on Sunday, November 8 at Lourdes High School.  Please join us for Mass at 5:00pm; the informational meeting that follows will go into more detail regarding the above requirements and be able to answer any questions you might have.  If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact Kristin Bird to get a copy of the packet.

There will also be a candidate/sponsor meeting Sunday, December 13 during our normal class time.  We will discuss how to choose a sponsor during our November classes.

Confirmation Class Schedule

Please check out our Schedule of Confirmation Classes.  Classes take place on Sunday evenings from 5 - 7:30pm at Lourdes High School.  Confirmation candidates will meet with the rest of the high school ministry at 5:00 for Mass (required) which will be followed by our preparation sessions.  All Confirmation candidates are welcome and invited to attend our CYO Mass and Faith Nights every week throughout the school year as well as our morning High School Teaching Masses; however, you are required to attend the Masses and sessions noted on the schedule specifically for Confirmation.

Confirmation Retreat

Our Confirmation Retreat will be the weekend of March 20 & 21st from 9:00am on Saturday through 6:00pm on Sunday.  Attendance at the entire retreat is mandatory for our Confirmation preparation program, so please mark your calendars now.
